Aina S. Erice

Aina S. Erice is a biologist and writer who has spent more than a decade celebrating the wonders of the plant kingdom and our relationship with its inhabitants —in other words, communicating ethnobotany to the public. She holds a degree in Biology and a Master’s in Plant Biology under Mediterranean Conditions from the UIB, and has published essays for both children —Cuéntame, Sésamo and Viriditas, both with A fin de cuentos— and adults. These include La consolación de la clorofila (Ediciones del Genal, 2023), El libro de las plantas olvidadas (Ariel, 2019) and La invención del reino vegetal (Ariel, 2022). Her latest book is El jardín de los dioses: una historia vegetal de la espiritualidad (Ariel, 2026). She directs, produces and presents the podcast La senda de las plantas perdidas, whose first three seasons became the book Senderos de savia (2021). She has written for national and international media including El País, The Planthunter —now Wonderground—, Rinconete, Revista Pantera and Revista PAN. In addition to having worked for years as an ethnobotanical educator for children, she gives talks, lectures and workshops, hoping to pass on her plant-loving enthusiasm to anyone willing to listen.
