Route of flower shops, hotels and gastronomy in Cordoba for FLORA 2022

The festival recommends different establishments to enjoy Cordoba during the celebration of the fifth edition of FLORA.

This year has also extended the collaboration with RENFE, official transport of this edition, which, among other actions, will offer a 10% discount to travel to the festival between October 18 and 25, 2022.

Cordoba, September 22, 2022. From October 17 to 27, FLORA International Flower Festival will turn Cordoba into the world epicenter of floral art under the theme ‘Metamorphosis’ and will unfold through the most emblematic institutional courtyards of the city, in an edition in which artists Maurice Harris (USA), Cordero Atelier (Spain), Emma Weaver (UK), Yuji Kobayashi (Japan) and the winner of the II call Patio Talento, KOKON (Spain) will enter the competition. The patios of the Palacio de Orive, the Archaeological Museum, the Palacio de Viana, the Diputación de Córdoba and the Patio de los Naranjos of the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba will be the chosen settings for the five floral creators to metamorphose reality through their unique gazes.

True to its vocation to build a city and to be an event with the greatest possible popular representation, FLORA 2022 also proposes, once again, a program of parallel activities complementary to the main program, and involves in the development of the contest 94 institutions, companies and groups, mostly from Cordoba, with whom, in addition, a gastronomic route has been designed, with florists and hotels that serves as a recommendation for the free time that people who come to enjoy the event have.

This year has also extended the collaboration with RENFE, official transport of FLORA 2022, which offers a 10% discount to travel to the festival between 18 and 25 October 2022. Interested users can get the discount code by subscribing to the festival’s newsletter through the website www.festivalflora.com.

Route of flower shops

Among the florists to visit, with the impulse of the inspiration of the great names that will pass through this cultural event, are Santa Marta (Osario, 20), one of the deans of the city, with 70 years of experience; the fun Lolaflowers (San Pablo, 28), where they make flowers and plants part of our lives, teaching us how much we love them; Floristería Ramón Luque (Alcalde Velasco Navarro, 1), an establishment in which its owner, Ramón, expresses in each arrangement his enthusiasm for the floral world, in which he has been working since the eighties; Los Patios (Caravaca de la Cruz, 4), a flower shop known for its versatility in floral work, and specializing in both everyday orders and religious and civil ceremonies, brotherly ornaments or public and private events; or Andaluflor (Llanos del Castillo, 32), a company founded in 1989 with its own style, noted for its originality, delicacy and passion for flowers.

Route of restaurants

In Cordoba you can find, at every step, places that combine tradition and avant-garde, such as Almudaina (Pl. Campo Santo de los Mártires, 1), which was a typical noble house in the 16th century -with different sized dining rooms and terrace-, and that bets on the raw material coming from local agriculture, fish and livestock; Taberna Tierra y Mar (Plaza de los Carrillos, 4), where the attention and quality of the product is a priority, with a menu focused on Mediterranean cuisine; Amaltea (Ronda de Isasa, 10), a pioneer restaurant opened 21 years ago, located in the Ribera de Córdoba, which stands out for its organic and local products; El Lagar de Orive (San Pablo, 21), with homemade food and friendly service to make you feel at home; or Bar Santa Marina (Calle Mayor de Santa Marina, 1), a cozy space located in one of the “most traditional” neighborhoods of the city, specializing in traditional Cordovan cuisine. Also worth mentioning are restaurants such as Casa Rubio (Puerta de Almódovar, 5), a Cordovan tavern founded in 1920 with an Andalusian patio and terrace, known for its fish frying and tapas; Café La Gloria (Claudio Marcelo, 15), a “traditional” place to start the day with a coffee or savor typical tapas at noon; or Doble de Cepa (Martínez Rucker, 9), a place with live music and a flamenco atmosphere where you can taste traditional Andalusian cuisine.

To complete this route, FLORA recommends enjoying the gastronomy of Cordoba in the bars and restaurants where Samoa Alimentación, specialists in Iberian meats, beef and lamb, distributes its products, as well as ConKdeKatering, the catering of Michelin star chef Kisko García, and the wines and vinegars of Consejo Regulador D.O. Montilla Moriles. The International Flower Festival also proposes to sign up for the two gastronomic plans that Bodegas Mezquita has prepared for FLORA 2022: a pairing dinner with edible flowers and wines with floral aromas (October 20) and a flower tasting paired with Mara de Miguel (October 27).

Lodging

To experience the historical identity and authenticity of Cordoba, FLORA 2022 recommends a varied catalog of accommodations for all budgets: Las Casas de Doña Concha (Calle Tomás Conde, 8), a palace house and an exclusive apartment located in the heart of Córdoba’s Jewish Quarter, in a spectacular 17th century building, which welcomes people from all over the world; Hotel Casa de los Azulejos (Fernando Colón, 5), an Andalusian manor house converted into a hotel where Manuel’s good work is expressed in the decoration, the plants, the homemade breakfasts and the craft beer Perro Flaco & Co; La Casa de la Costurera (San Basilio, 40), a charming corner that recreates the house-workshop of a seamstress and where it seems that time has stopped; the Hotel Serrano (Benito Pérez Galdós, 6), a family hotel project with more than 60 years of life in which it has been transformed into a renovated and modern space to offer guests an unforgettable experience; Hotel Maestre (Romero Barros, 4 and 6), an establishment in the historic center of the city with an atmosphere that conveys the colors, aromas and unique ambience of the typical Cordovan courtyards; the Hotel Suite Generis (Pedro López, 20), a boutique hotel, adults only, ecofriendly and domotized, for a romantic experience in an early 20th century building restored by the architectural firm Eugenio González Madorrán, which gives the sensation of being inside a white sculpture; the luxury apartments of the Patios de la Judería (Martínez Rucker, 12, and Osio, 22), located in two restored 17th century houses, where you can enjoy a swimming pool twenty meters from the Mosque; the Hotel Hospes Palacio de Bailío (Ramírez de las Casas Deza, 10 and 12), an oasis in the center of Córdoba with Roman baths and an outdoor pool surrounded by fruit trees and plants; or the Soho Boutique Córdoba – the second hotel opened by the Andalusian chain Soho Boutique Hotels in Córdoba – with an exceptional central location, a large rooftop terrace with spectacular views of the city, swimming pool and the remains of a Roman wall in the basement.

More experiences

Cordoba is a city with an enormous cultural and monumental legacy, with four Unesco World Heritage Sites, and full of a unique life and color that fills each of its streets and corners. For this reason, FLORA 2022 suggests extending the festival experience with the special tours of Amedina Córdoba, which has designed four different experiences to learn in detail the great historical and heritage value of Cordoba through guided tours of the most important monuments and places.
