A Colored Perspective

MAURICE HARRIS

The expansive and vital charisma of Maurice Harris is transferred to his works, as we can experience in this courtyard of the Archaeological Museum, converted into an (almost literal) explosion of colour. In this courtyard of the Archaeological Museum, converted into an (almost) literal explosion of colour. Curious by nature, Harris wanted to explore two ideas in this installation. On the one hand, the connections between the theory of colour and light with the concept of race: black absorbs light, white rejects it and, in this white rejects it and, in this play, the force of the rainbow enters like a torrent. On the other hand, the American artist draws our attention to the futility of trying to dominate nature: nature always finds a way to nature: it always finds a way to remind us of its supremacy. Do not the apparent naivety of a feast of colours: the invasion has begun.

Circle of life

YUJI KOBAYASHI

When Yuji Kobayashi visited the Orange Tree Courtyard last summer, he saw one thing above all else: water. One thing above all else: water. Underground in the cisterns. Superficial in the irrigation ditches. Embellished in the baroque fountain of Santa María. A key element in the Catholic and Muslim rites. Muslim rite. And, above all, a source of life. The Japanese artist wanted to represent the cycle of life with a radical aesthetic proposal that dialogues with the tower of the Mosque-Cathedral. With his unmistakable style, in which the straight line confronts the usual curved forms of nature, Koku curved forms of nature, Kobayashi launches a call of attention towards the dangers of interrupting the dangers of interrupting the Earth’s life cycle.

Liminal

EMMA WEAVER

Liminares are those spaces that make us doubt whether we are in one place or another, beginning or ending something: adolescence, a frontier, illness. Beginning or ending something: adolescence, a border, illness. Is it a field of lilies and a pond that we see, or a fountain in the middle of a courtyard? lily field and a pond what we see, or a fountain in the middle of a courtyard? The artist proposes an installation that works in constant change: a journey, not a destination.
Convinced of the multiple readings of a work of art, her visitors will hesitate about the best place to look…. Like the lily, once a symbol of royalty (which is why it adorns the walls of the Patio del Reloj). The walls of the Clock Courtyard) and nowadays considered by many to be an old-fashioned flower, Weaver Weaver makes us rethink who and how the idea of “good taste” is decided. And there is yet another frontier in this space: that of the courtyard itself, between the hustle and bustle of the street and the public institutions and the public institutions.

Ovidio

KOKON

Beauty can teach us to look differently at the most everyday elements, such as the simple esparto grass. The usual whiteness of the courtyard of the Palacio de Orive has become a metamorphosis of colour that makes us doubt what we see. Metamorphosis of colour that makes us doubt what we see. Who are these creatures we sense through the mysterious filter? We sense them through the mysterious filter: traces of a landscape? Or masses of plants transmuted into animals? With the Metamorphoses of Ovid’s Metamorphoses, KOKON invites the public to let themselves be guided by a mixture of intuition, confusion and curiosity to understand this new and ephemeral architecture.

The way through the way

CORDERO ATELIER

In keeping with the canons of the Andalusian garden, the vegetation that normally adorns this Patio de las Columnas is presented in an orderly, regular and predictable manner. The Patio de las Columnas is presented in an orderly, regular and predictable manner. But something strange has happened in FLORA: the courtyard has been transformed into a futuristic landscape, ideal, chimerical, fantastic and full of colour, the result of supposed structural and physiological changes. Cordero Atelier is inspired by the mycelium – that network made up of billions of branches that branches that connects plants, flowers and trees underground and allows life in society – to make us walk through the in society – to make us walk through an impossible place. More than an artistic installation, what we find here is an invading presence that, in a silent and beautiful way, seems to come and beautifully, seems to come to reclaim its space.
