With the intention of sharing stories and experiences that enrich both the public and the artist, Tadao Cern proposes an activity in which two gastronomies as far apart in space as the Lithuanian and the Cordoba come together to demonstrate that distances are relative. Both have a “cold soup” and vegetables as their star dishes: šaltibarsčiai (cold beetroot soup) and salmorejo.

The proposal becomes a dream thanks to the presence of one of the best chefs in our country, the Cordoba Kiosko García, to prepare the salmorejo. Two masters of their respective arts in an evening to talk, cook and, of course, eat ‘saltibarsčiai and salmorejo.

As a metaphor for the connections that bind nature and human communities together, floral artist Harriet Parry invites citizens to an afternoon to learn how to create handcrafted garlands of flowers to decorate this iconic city space. “These garlands and the process of creation itself,” in Parry’s words, “symbolise the unheard connections and conversations between trees, and act as a metaphor for the systems that create thriving communities to flourish”.

An afternoon of confidences and craftsmanship with the English artist is completed with an abstract landscape of floral and human sounds: the musical ambience created by Harriet Parry’s collaborator, composer and sound artist Charlie Carroll.

Sound ambience is a key element in many art installations. Russian artists Flowgardenz have turned to music producer (and member of their own team) Grigorii Rakhmilovich to create the soundscape of their installation, winner of Patio Talento 2023, Célula.

Sounds, effects and text are combined in a mosaic that, in this FLORA Encounter, we will be able to enjoy live, with the participation of the two components of Flowgardenz (Vladimir Vanenkov Konstantin Bushmanov) and Grigorii Rakhmilovich.

Visiting the installation of an art installation is always a very special opportunity to get to know the ins and outs of an artist’s creation. That is what the Korean Ha I I Hwa proposes, who shares with the participants of this visit -two days before its inauguration- her work process.

In addition, the floral artist introduces us to the music of Lyra Geomungojari, whose pieces have especially inspired her to create her installation Mecanismo artificial de defensa.

Two humanist scientists and Flowers by Bornay join forces in this activity designed to complement the installation Mobilis in mobili. In DISLOOPIA-Mobilis, the collective of florists and the two scientists want to open a dialogue in which to discuss different aspects of time and space, the importance of clocks and art in our perception of time or the different types of intelligence, among other subjects.

Combining personal reflections by Rodríguez and Gualda, the fruit of their professional and life experience, with small video installations created with different technologies, this pair of Catalan scientists delve into the more philosophical and scientific aspects, as well as artistic and experimental ones, which justify and complement the work presented at the FLORA Festival by Flowers by Bornay.

DISLOOPIA is a personal project created by Jorge Rodríguez with the collaboration of Emilio Gualda, in which different visual, sound and literary elements are combined and animated through the creation of interactive loops.
