FLORA 2025: Future
The one we fear and the one we dream of. The one we’re told about and the one that should be. The one imagined by artists. The one designed by scientists. There are many different futures, and in the eighth edition of FLORA we want to address many of them.
The future is in question. Are we already immersed in the post-future, with no possibility of progress? Are we part of the “slow cancellation of the future,” the term coined by Italian philosopher Franco Berardi to describe our collective inability to imagine a different and hopeful tomorrow? Or is there still time to launch a plan that improves our outlook?
When we combine the concepts of future and environment, fear and dystopia often arise. The mistreatment we’ve inflicted on the planet paints a complicated picture of what’s to come—unless we begin to think of nature itself as a driver of change. What if the possibility of a better future lies in learning from our natural surroundings?
At FLORA, we are convinced that only nature holds the answer to a more livable future. Let’s see, listen to, and reflect on what our artists have to share with us.
