Vicente Todolí

Spain, 1958

Born in Valencia (Spain) in 1958, Todolì has been artistic director of Pirelli HangarBicocca since 2012. From 1988 to 1996 he was artistic director of IVAM (Istituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno) and from 1996 to 2003 he directed the Serralves Museum in Porto. In 2003 he was appointed director of the Tate Modern in London, a position he held until 2010. Throughout his career, Vicente Todolí has been a member of the curatorial team of the 1997 Venice Biennale (directed by Germano Celant) and has curated several exhibitions, including solo shows dedicated to Miroslaw Balka, Fischli & Weiss, Lucio Fontana, Robert Frank, Hamish Fulton, João Maria Gusmão & Pedro Paiva, Richard Hamilton, Franz West and many others.

Todolì has served on numerous advisory boards and committees such as: Centro Reina Sofía (Madrid), ICA di Amsterdam, Carnegie International (Pittsburgh), Manifesta International Art Foundation (Rotterdam) and Museo Serralves (Porto). He is currently chairman of the Advisory Board of Centro Botín (Santander) and art advisor to the Inelcom Collection (Madrid).

In 2012 he established the Todolí Citrus Fundaciò in his birthplace, Palmera (Valencia), to preserve the genetic diversity of citrus fruits and the cultural heritage surrounding these trees, through an orchard with more than 400 varieties.
