Toya Legido
With a PhD in Fine Art and an MA in Photography from IED Milan, Legido is an associate professor at the Complutense University of Madrid. Director of the Arte, ciencia y naturaleza research group and member of the ACADEMIA committee at ANECA, she is currently an active member of the IMPACT research group and of the collective Cómo ser fotógrafa.
She has curated various exhibitions, including Ellas ilustran botánica. Arte, ciencia y género (2024), Paraísos vegetales (2020), Herbarios Imaginados (2019), Arte Abierto at Casa Decor (2018) and Zoologías (2011). Legido has also published books that associate contemporary art with botanical illustration, released by Ediciones Complutenses and the CSIC publishing department. Her Ellas ilustran botánica received the prize for best edited art book of 2023 from the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
In recent years, her work has focused on the theoretical, technical and practical aspects of representations of the plant and animal kingdoms.
