Lucía Casani (Madrid, 1978) holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid. Between 1997 and 2001, she participated in different film and advertising projects. In 2002, coinciding with the birth of La Casa Encendida, she joined the centre’s team as Audiovisual Coordinator, a position she held until 2009, when she became head of the institution’s Culture Department. Between 2014 and 2023 she took over as director of La Casa Encendida, consolidating the institution’s importance as a space of reference for contemporary Spanish culture and for social and environmental thought and action.
After this experience, she took over as General Director of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation in Spain in September 2023, a position she currently holds. The Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation materialises its commitment in two main areas: Sustainable Food, for universal access to healthy food, respectful of people and ecosystems; and Citizen Art, understood as a key tool for the development of a critical spirit and the reinforcement of social cohesion.
