Emma Weaver | Liminar
Liminares are those spaces that make us doubt whether we are in one place or another, beginning or ending something: adolescence, a frontier, illness. Beginning or ending something: adolescence, a border, illness. Is it a field of lilies and a pond that we see, or a fountain in the middle of a courtyard? lily field and a pond what we see, or a fountain in the middle of a courtyard? The artist proposes an installation that works in constant change: a journey, not a destination. Convinced of the multiple readings of a work of art, her visitors will hesitate about the best place to look….
Like the lily, once a symbol of royalty (which is why it adorns the walls of the Patio del Reloj / Clock Courtyard) and nowadays considered by many to be an old-fashioned flower, Emma Weaver makes us rethink who and how the idea of “good taste” is decided. And there is yet another frontier in this space: that of the courtyard itself, between the hustle and bustle of the street and the public institutions and the public institutions.
