Yuji Kobayashi | Circle of life
When Yuji Kobayashi visited the Orange Tree Courtyard last summer, he saw one thing above all else: water. One thing above all else: water. Underground in the cisterns. Superficial in the irrigation ditches. Embellished in the baroque fountain of Santa María. A key element in the Catholic and Muslim rites. Muslim rite. And, above all, a source of life.
The Japanese artist wanted to represent the cycle of life with a radical aesthetic proposal that dialogues with the tower of the Mosque-Cathedral. With his unmistakable style, in which the straight line confronts the usual curved forms of nature, Koku curved forms of nature, Kobayashi launches a call of attention towards the dangers of interrupting the dangers of interrupting the Earth’s life cycle.
