Flowgardenz | Cell
In a game of scales that puts humans in the background and nature in the foreground, Flowgardenz invites us to immerse ourselves in the interior of a plant cell to provoke a feeling of insignificance in the face of the grandeur of this microscopic reality. Don’t be fooled by the beauty of chloroplasts or mitochondria: the artists don’t want to explore plants here as beautiful objects, but as incredible life forms with unique mechanisms of survival and communication.
The installation does not hide its structure, designed to be an integral part of the work, reflecting the continuous and dynamic process that occurs within a living cell: scaffolding in plain sight, water test tubes as a metaphor for the sophisticated circulatory system of plants, metal mesh reminiscent of the reticular structure of cells… The industrial aesthetic complements the organic beauty of the flowers, a juxtaposition that highlights the symbiotic relationship between nature and human intervention.
“By creating a large-scale plant cell with carefully selected flowers we symbolise the intricate and often enigmatic intelligence that resides within these seemingly simple organisms.”
