Juan Pérez ‘Aure’
A leading flamenco pianist and composer, Juan Pérez Rodríguez is the leader of the labels Fabulare and Mosaico. His personal restlessness has led him to take an interest in a wide variety of music: he graduated in classical music in Spain and Paris and in jazz at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has been able to incorporate the knowledge he has acquired in these musical fields into his flamenco roots, with a richer sound, a personal language developed in the channels of flamenco. He has shared stage and recordings with musicians such as Michael Thomas, Zubin Mehta, Simon Shaheen, Carles Benavent, Jorge Pardo, Duquende, Diego el Cigala, Billie Drews, Gualberto García (Smash), Parrita, Bassam Saba and Alameda, among others.
In 2022 he became the first winner of the SGAE Paco de Lucía Prize thanks to his work Contrarreloj, which unanimously beat seven authors to become the best contemporary flamenco composer of the year. Since then, he has released several singles that have made him one of the most avant-garde flamenco piano composers in the world and the one who has taken the fusion of palos jondos and synthesizers the furthest.
