Ikefrana
Ikefrana is the artistic name of Francisco José García Almodóvar. Born in Ciudad Real, he began working with flowers “from memory” rather than any clear sense of vocation. Growing up in La Mancha, “flowers were not decoration but everyday language.” That botanical memory is now the symbolic heart of his work.
He attended Savia Bruta, the flower school where he currently teaches, and his creations are characterised by the use of recycled biomaterials, organic waste and natural fibres in compositions that grow like moving organisms. His research has led him to explore new surfaces and structures that not only support flowers but also prompt a dialogue about fragility, transformation and ecological awareness.
In 2020 he founded Ikefrana, an experimental initiative inspired by the Japanese art of ikebana where he probes the delicate balance of void, emotion and living matter. He has recently collaborated with firms like Le Labo and Prada, devising floral interventions that range from poetic minimalism to wildly free, matter-dense expression.
García Almodóvar thinks of floral art not as decoration but as a conscious act, “a way of caring, questioning, accompanying”.
