Coyote Flowers

Toronto, Canada, 1984

Lauren Sellen (Toronto, 1984), the creator of Coyote Flowers, is a floral artist who has been expressing herself through botany for ten years, in compositions that are often monochromatic and denote a “less is more” mentality in the number of plant varieties used. Sellen strives to incorporate the unconventional in her creations and show the natural beauty of flowers, which she succeeds in doing thanks to her exquisite floral skills.

Her background in theatrical acting and performance can be sensed in the emotional intensity behind each piece, in which movement is particularly important. Intrigue and imperfection—the surprising ways and shapes in which plants can grow, for instance—are part of her artistic imagery.
