Patricia Domínguez | Matrix Vegetal
The C3A Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Andalucía, in co-production with the TBA21 Foundation and on the occasion of the FLORA Festival, presents the installation Matrix Vegetal by the artist Patricia Domínguez (Santiago de Chile, 1984).
Matrix Vegetal, arises from the interweaving of different investigations into experimental ethnobotany, dream fiction, South American quantum thinking and organic connection technologies for the perception of the plant and spiritual world. For this work, the artist spent a month in apprenticeship with the healer and curandero Amador Aniceto, in Madre de Dios (Peru). Guided by his teachings, Domínguez activated a process of intimate connection with the living, multi-species language.
The intervention consists of a single-channel video, framed by a triangular structure with green LED lights that allude to the artist’s research on the effects of colonisation, globalisation and hyper-commercialisation in South America; while establishing a space of resistance. In this space, ancestral wisdom and memories take shape, offering ways to heal the wounds of colonial trauma and fostering new myths of multi-species resistance.
It is completed by three watercolours and a plant altar, carefully assembled with offerings dedicated to the plant matrix. In his dreamlike watercolours, Domínguez conjures technologically animated realms in which humans, plants, animals and objects engage in a seamless dialogue, seeking to offer new possibilities for transformation.
